The title refers to a fairly sophisticated establishment in Portsmouth where my parents would go occasionally with our neighbours.
I must have made this when I was thinking about my mate Geoff Appleton, at whose funeral I’d read a poem by Yeats. The verse shown was the one most difficult to finish. So true, and I think of this gifted presence daily. The perfect friend who wore his genius lightly and always gave me so much to think about and enjoy.
