Taken from a pastel drawing I did years ago for a friend and collector.
The picture was called Chasing Shadows, named after a tune he recorded 1935, which I used to name one of my print editions.
He was 25 years old and was already an acknowledged master of the guitar.
His pre-war stuff is mostly fantastic.
His left hand was so badly burned in a fire when he was 16, that he only could play with his index and second finger.
All of this makes his virtuosity just about incredible.
This is just ridiculous: Minor Swing from '37.
